Application closing date: 14 September
We are seeking volunteers to join the new UK Bodily Injuries Motor Working Party which the IFoA’s General Insurance Board is launching in September 2025.
The board proposes to bring its motor-related activity under one umbrella: a new, integrated UK Bodily Injuries Motor Working Party. This new structure will facilitate clearer coordination, reduce duplication, and better reflect the growing interest from regulators and other stakeholders in this space.
The new working party will be structured with an overall chair and distinct workstreams, each led by a dedicated workstream chair and deputy chair. Together, the chairs will form a collaborative leadership team, ensuring coherence and cross-stream engagement, following a model that has proven effective within other large IFoA working parties.
This evolution is a positive and strategic development. It reflects both the maturity of the existing groups’ research outputs and the opportunity to bring together diverse expertise into a more streamlined and impactful structure.
Existing members of the Ogden Rate, PPO, and Third Party Working Parties are encouraged to apply to join this new working party.
Applications will also be very welcome from any members or lay volunteers with expertise in one or more of the key areas of work. Appointments will be made by a selection panel based on relevant expertise aligned to the new terms of reference.
The initial workstreams we will be recruiting for are:
And any other workstreams that we will discuss at GIRO or volunteers may wish to suggest.

The time commitment varies but will not be more than a maximum of half a day per month for workstream members. The individual workstreams will have monthly MS Teams meetings, with additional regular for the leadership team.
Workstream members will be expected to undertake research and to follow up on actions between meetings.
For some workstreams, there will be an annual collection of data, supported by the IFoA Executive. This will support the production of an annual industry report. There may be some element of time pressure at specific pinch points to ensure the report can be published on time to support actuaries who rely on this annual data.
