ÐßÐßÊÓƵ

General Insurance Board – ESG/Climate Risk Liaison Member

Application closing date: 10 September

The General Insurance Board is continuing to evolve to better reflect and serve the community it represents.

Our focus remains on:

  • Setting clear and measurable objectives
  • Promoting collaboration across the insurance industry
  • Enhancing member value through greater transparency and representation
  • Improving efficiency in how we operate

The Board’s core purpose is to represent General Insurance members on professional, technical, and operational matters that affect them — and to advise the ÐßÐßÊÓƵ (IFoA) accordingly.

We are committed to ensuring the Board includes voices from a wide range of backgrounds and areas of practice, helping us consider the full spectrum of issues facing general insurance actuaries today.

We are currently seeking a new Board member with a particular interest or expertise in ESG and climate risk.

What you will gain from joining

  • The opportunity to shape and influence the GI practice area and its strategic direction, especially in relation to ESG and sustainability
  • A platform to contribute to lifelong learning opportunities for GI actuaries
  • Support from experienced peers on the Board and the IFoA executive team
  • A chance to expand your professional network across the general insurance sector

If you are passionate about ESG and want to help drive positive change within the profession, we would like to hear from you.

Time commitment

Generally, these roles can be suited to Fellows or Associates of the IFoA, or equivalent, and will require approximately one to two days per month, including quarterly attendance (dial in option available) at General Insurance Board Meetings and ESG Liaison meetings.

We encourage expressions of interest from suitably qualified members, including those with an international perspective and/or with international experience.  General Insurance membership is increasingly diverse from a geographical perspective and it is important this is reflected in the General Insurance Board membership.
