Three changes are being made to the Actuaries’ Code.
In brief, the changes to the Code are as follows:
The changes will come into effect on 25 September 2025.
The changes made are to the Actuaries’ Code, which applies to all IFoA Members, regardless of where geographically they are based or working.
As with all provisions of the Actuaries’ Code, these provisions will apply to all Members’ conduct in relation to an actuarial role, and to other conduct where it could reasonably be considered to reflect upon the profession.
More information on the scope of the requirements of the Actuaries’ Code can be found in the Actuaries’ Code Guidance (linked below).
Members are encouraged to read through the changes so that they are familiar with the updated Code and the amended requirements.
New material has also been added to the Actuaries’ Code Guidance to assist members in understanding how to apply them in practice.
If Members have specific queries about application of the changes, or have particular situations they would like some help with, support is available through the IFoA’s Professional and Regulatory Support Helpdesk, which provides access to the IFoA team as well as a panel of experienced actuaries.
which explains the changes and how those are expected to apply in practice.
Members should also look out for new Professional Skills Training content, which will help with understanding the application of the new requirements.
The reasons for introducing the changes are explained on the IFoA website. This follows an extensive period of engagement and consultation.
The IFoA’s reports of the consultations and feedback can also be found on the IFoA website.
