We plan to deliver the September exams sessions in the same way as for April with the vast majority of candidates sitting the closed book exams online in examination centres.
We fully acknowledge that the candidate experience leading up to the April session was not one you should expect from the IFoA and sincerely apologise for the uncertainty caused by the changes.
Our focus now is on providing stability and continuity for the September session and beyond while ensuring a secure examination session.
All key dates for the September exam sittings will remain the same and details can be found on our key dates webpage. Booking for the September session will be open from Tuesday 8 July for members and Monday 14 July for non-members. Booking closes for all candidates on Friday 25 July.
Please ensure that your preferred address for communications is updated on the member portal as we will be using this address to match candidates with their exam centre location.
Introducing in-person invigilation and delivering our examinations in centres has resulted in significantly increased costs for the IFoA. We absorbed these costs in April and will continue to look to reduce and offset costs for the September session. However, to provide in-person examinations in September, we have taken the decision to increase our exam fees by 10% for this session.
We appreciate that nobody wants to see examination fees rising, but to provide some perspective, the new rates remain lower than if we had increased the 2019 in-person exam costs annually in line with inflation.
We will be holding a webinar in July to hear further feedback on the April session and address any questions about plans for the September session.
We will also be holding further webinars in August to provide more detailed information on how the September session will work for candidates taking their exams, either in person or online. Details of these webinars will be shared with candidates soon.
