Business Assessors

The ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ (IFoA) is looking for Business Assessors to support the delivery of a key assessment within our prestigious actuarial qualification framework.

Applicants must hold an appropriate assessor qualification (D32/D33, A1/A2, or TAQA Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

Applicants must hold a degree in Business Administration/Management or equivalent relevant professional qualification with at least 3 years of experience working in the education sector.

About the role

As a Business Assessor, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity and quality of the IFoA’s Business Management Assessments. You will work collaboratively with IFoA staff, Lead Assessors, and fellow Assessors to ensure assessments are conducted fairly, consistently, and in line with our published guidelines and mark schemes.

Courses are scheduled to start in October 2025. The anticipated marking period will be the first two weeks of every month, with an approximate marking load of 65 business reports. Loads may vary depending on candidate enrolment, time of year and Assessor capacity.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Manage your own assessment activity, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Conduct assessments in line with IFoA guidance and published mark schemes within set timescales.
  • Provide fair and constructive feedback to candidates within set timescales.
  • Positive engagement and effective communication with IFoA staff.
  • Active participation in standardisations events.
  • Respond positively and constructively to feedback from the Lead Assessor and standardisation activities, adapting your approach as directed.
  • Record, store, handle and dispose of sensitive data in line with IFoA policies and procedures.
  • Complete and provide evidence of annual CPD activities to maintain occupational currency.
  • Declare any potential, perceived or actual conflicts of interest annually.
  • Immediate reporting of any occurrences of malpractice or maladministration.

Qualifications and experience

You must meet the occupational requirements for CB3 Business Management as defined by the syllabus, plus any additional requirements specified by the IFoA.

Remuneration

This is a nominally remunerated self-employed contractor role, offered on a non-exclusive basis. Services will be outlined in a formal Schedule of Services upon appointment. You will be invited to submit an invoice to the IFoA upon completion of agreed services.
