The IFoA is seeking to appoint both members and suitably experienced non-members to join the General Insurance Reserving Reporting Group (GIROC)’s Towards the Optimal Reserving Working Party.
The working party is looking at all aspects of the reserving process including machine learning and interaction with finance transformation. Examples of output include presenting at GIRO 2024’s talk on ‘talk to the data, not purely to claims and underwriting’ and to the GIRO 2023’s talk on on ‘making the leap from capital model validation to reserving validation’. Examples of work can be explored in the .
We are keen to hear from those practising in general insurance with detailed reserving experience (preferably relating to a number of organisations).
The successful volunteers will have the opportunity to influence the scope of the working party’s future output and direction of travel.
Members of this working party are expected to devote 2 to 4 hours per month to further its research. This includes participation at a monthly meeting, which will be by conference call to allow us to widen this opportunity to all members. Calls will be arranged at a mutually convenient time for all involved.
